France defeated England and advanced to the semifinals and continues to enjoy their back to back victories : In the quarterfinal encounter of the FIFA World Cup 2022 at the Al Bayt Stadium, France defeated England 2-1 thanks to goals from Aurelien Tchouameni and Olivier Giroud.

After England’s John Stones suffered an injury while attempting to steal the ball from an opponent, medical personnel rushed onto the field. Later, Jack Grealish took his position.

It was the first time the two teams have met in a major tournament elimination game.

In the 17th minute of the first half of the quarterfinal game between France and England, Aurelien Tchouameni scored to give France a 1-0 lead. In order to win the game, England had to perform better in the second half.

By the end of the first half, France appeared to be the better team and had more opportunities. But Tchouameni’s long shot was what gave them the advantage. England had 45 minutes to save their campaign, and France had the same amount of time to secure a position in the final four.

The French continue to pursue their goal of winning consecutively for the first time in 60 years.

Who knows how things might have turned out if Kane had converted his second penalty to send the game into overtime? With a victory, England might have advanced to the semifinals, where they would have faced Morocco as heavy favorites.
