CWG 2022: Indian table tennis team wins gold, India gets 11th medal at Commonwealth Games

CWG 2022: The table tennis team gave India its 11th medal at the Commonwealth Games (2022). The men’s team won the gold medal by defeating Singapore 3-1 in the final. G Sathiyan did a fantastic job. He won the doubles match with Harmeet Desai in doubles. Then the match of his singles also gave a decent performance to knock the opposing player. India has so far won 5 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals at the Games and is at the sixth position in the table. Earlier today, the women’s lawn balls team won the gold medal.

The first doubles match was played in the team event. The duo of Ji Sathiyan and Harmeet Desai registered a stunning 3-0 win, defeating the Singaporean duo of Yang Yek and Yu Peng 13-11, 11-7 and 11-5. Then in the singles match, Sharath Kamal had to face defeat. In the second singles match, G Sathiyan won 3-1 to give the team a 2-1 lead. He defeated Yu Peng 12-10, 7-11, 11-7 and 11-4. Then Harmeet Desai won his singles match and secured the gold.

In the third singles match, Harmeet Desai did not give any chance to the opposing player. He defeated Ji Chiu 3-0. Harmeet won the match 11-8, 11-5 and 11-6. There was still one singles match left. But the Indian players did not give a chance to have this match with their brilliant performance.

Talking about India’s 11 medals so far, it has won 7 medals in weightlifting. At the same time, 2 medals have been won by judo players. At the same time, gold medals in lawn balls and table tennis came today. The women’s badminton team will also enter the final today. They is also expected to get a gold medal.
