Just like Novak Djokovic, Cameron Norrie, the British Tennis star, had to win the hard way, as he needed 5 sets to reach the semi finals at the Wimbledon, 2022.
The current ranked World Number 1, Djokovic, made an amazing comeback from 2 sets down against Italy’s Jannik Sinner, to reach the Wimbledon semi final for the 11th time.
He beat Jannik Sinner, 5-7, 2-6, 6-5, 6-2, 6-2 to reach the semis. On the other hand, Norrie beat David Goffin, 3-6, 7-5, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5.
Norrie in all had 5 break points, which helped him over the line. If you see the stats, all are in favor of David Goffin but, Norrie toppled Goffin to set up an enticing watch against Novak Djokovic.
En-route the Semi finals berth, Norrie beat Pablo Andjuar, Jaume Munar(5 sets), Steve Johnshon, Tommy Paul and now David Goffin(5 sets).
In the post match interview, Norrie revealed he was in shock following this hard fought win!
“I think just winning a match like this, I’m in shock,” he said.
“I have flashbacks of all the hard work and all the sacrifices I have had to make and it’s definitely paid off, and it feels pretty good.”
Both Norrie and Djokovic had impressive comebacks and deserved a semi final spot, based on their performances.
