Sri Lanka is set to hold the Asia Cup 2022. It will commence on 27th August, and the final will be played on 11th September. It will be played in a T20 format.
6 teams will participate in the tournament.
5 test playing nations – India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan would be joined by 1 team from Hong Kong, Kuwait, Singapore and UAE.
The tournament previously scheduled to be in 2020 but, had to be postponed to 2021 and then to 2022 due to Covid 19 restrictions.
India who are the current champions having won it in 2018 are to be the favourites this year too. Although Pakistan and others would put up a stern challenge to the Men in Blue.
The qualifiers for the 6th team will be held just before the tournament. They would start on 20th August.
Pakistan who were supposed to host the Asia Cup 2022 will now do so in 2023.
This is going to be the 15th edition of the Asia cup with India being the most successful side having won it 7 times.
