Annu Rani won the bronze medal in javelin throw at the Commonwealth Games on Sunday and added another medal to India’s account in athletics. Annu finished third, throwing a spear 60 metres away. Australia’s Kelsey Lee Barber won the gold medal and McKenzie Little won the silver medal.

She has become the first woman athlete from India to win a medal at the Commonwealth Games. Annu had earlier won a bronze medal at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.
Australia’s Kelsey won the gold with 64.43m while McKenzie won the silver medal with 64.27m. Shilpa Rani, the other Indian female athlete participating in the event, finished 7th. Shilpa attempted 54.62 m.
