Pure dominance by Neeru in Itlay: Wins her maiden Gold in Women’s Trap Event
Indian Shooter Neeru Dhandha won maiden Gold in the Trap Women event at the ISSF World Cup Shotgun Lonato 2026 in Itlay. She etched her name in history as she became the only Indian female to win an individual gold medal at the ISSF World Cup.
She gave an convincing performance, where she dominated the game and yet she was composed throughout. She achieved this title by defeating the former world champion-CaroleCormenier.
Through her composed and consistent performance, Neeru finished her final game by hitting 27 targets at the 30 target contest, displaying consistency and surreal efforts throughout the tournament.
This maiden Gold is the biggest victory of her career and another achievement to India’s success on the international shooting circuit. This Indian Shooter is just 26 year’s old and hails from the Jhind district in the state of Haryana. She trains herself from the Madhya Pradesh State Shooting Academy in Bhopal.
Apart from winning gold at the ISSF World Cup in Lonato, Itlay, she even won a gold at the Asian Champions held in 2025 and a mixed team bronze paired with Vivaan Kapoor.
She’s been consistent with her training and is looking forward to win a medal for India at the Los Angeles Olympics as well.
Looking back at her career past years, Neeru faced a lot of barriers and hardships. With her strength and determination she fought her hurdles and made the impossible- possible.
She faced financial constraints and hurdles common in India. From domestic challenges to maiden Gold medalist, she evolved, and faced everything with her gritty determination.
